From 1991 to 2006, PBS in the US and other Canadian stations aired the Canadian comedy series The Red Green Show. It mocks DIY, home renovation, fishing, and other outdoor programs in a sitcom and sketch comedy style.
The program was created by Steve and Morag Smith’s S&S Productions, under the direction of Steve Smith, Rick Green, and William G. Elliott. The Red Green Channel on Roku televisions, CBC Television, CTV Comedy Channel, and different PBS stations presently broadcast the show’s reruns.
The program centers on the exploits of Red Green, a resourceful handyman who frequently economizes on materials and refers to duct tape as “the handyman’s secret weapon.”
In addition, Red Green serves as the president of the Possum Lodge, a made-up men’s club situated in the fictional community of Possum Lake, northwest of Port Asbestos, in Ontario. Red and the other lodge members have their own television program where they instruct men in repair work, outdoor recreation, and other topics.
Gordon Pinsent Red Green Show: Why was Red Green canceled?
The “Red Green Show” was a television program that aired for fifteen years. PBS broadcast it in the United States. Unfortunately, the series was terminated in 2006 at the request of Steve Smith, the show’s creator, and star.
He feared the show may have lost its attraction and did not want to run it for another season. But, he opted to portray his well-known persona Red Green live since he could not let go of him.
